Workshop at Feminist Spring
The Bridgerton series is set in a world where Black people and people of color are part of the British aristocracy. The series includes Black people, sign language, and queerness, thus presenting a utopia. What remains unchanged, however, are gender roles: marriage, appearance, and having children remain the main themes for the female characters. This is where we want to start in this workshop. Where does gender play a role? What unconscious assumptions do we make about “normal” behavior? What different expectations do we have of people we perceive as female or male?
Together, we want to consider what a future with different (or without) gender roles might look like.
🕒 The workshop is planned to last approximately 4 hours. We have deliberately planned a longer time slot so that we can work in a relaxed manner and not run over time.
